Have
you ever thought about the fanny letters and numbers like NFO a
09, NFO n 23,
NFO fs 09 22 or NFO w 63 and did you understand what they were talking
about?
In the beginning I had no idea at all and I like to offer you now
a short lesson about
the Forest Cat colours.
To
begin with, let's take the 3 letters NFO. They stand for NORWEGIAN
FORESTCAT.
Next,
Forest Cats are divided into 9 colour groups:
NFO-category
|
colour
|
1

Solid
black or solid blue (diluted black)
(the "blue" is "breeder speak" for the
colour folks usually call "grey")
|
2

Solid

3

Black

|
4

Black tabby with white, or blue tabby with white
|
5
|
Red,
cream (the diluted version of red), black tortoiseshell,
blue tortoiseshell - all of these may be either tabby or non-tabby
|
6
|
The
same colours as in group 5, but with contrasting white
|
7

Silver

The
same colours as in group 7, but with white

These
9 groups are associated with corresponding letters:
They are arranged according to the basic colours:
